Kathryn Sawatzky

BPE, CPT, MFC

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Kathryn Sawatzky has been involved in the fitness industry for the past 18 years. Upon graduating from high school in 1990 Kathryn became qualified as a Group Fitness Leader and Certified Fitness Appraiser and went on to graduate from the University of Manitoba Dean’s Honour list with her Bachelor of Physical Education in 1994.

Kathryn began her career in Workplace Health and Wellness with CN (Canadian National Railway) in 1994 as Employee Health and Fitness Coordinator for the Winnipeg area.  In this position, she provided health education and fitness programming to employees via numerous health and wellness presentations, personal training, incentive programs, personal wellness consultations and teaching of group fitness classes. In the community, Kathryn has served on the Board of Directors for the Manitoba Runner’s Association from 1997-98, been involved annually since 1994 with the Great Grain Relay Corporate event, served as Race Director for CN Tracks of Glory race since it’s inception in 1998 on to its closing race in 2008 and been a founding member of the Winnipeg Workplace Wellness Alliance since 1997.

Kathryn has studied in the part-time MBA program at the University of Manitoba and instructed an Issues in Health course at the University of Winnipeg (2003). Outside of work she is a full-time Mother to son Matthew and daughter Julia.

Kathryn’s personal fitness has seen her compete in the Manitoba Novice Bodybuilding Championships in 1991 and complete 3 full marathon events in Minneapolis from 1995-97 consecutively. Currently she runs half marathons with her most recent accomplishments having place first overall in the 1st Annual Treherne, Manitoba half marathon, and the first Canadian runner to finish the half marathon in Negril, Jamaica on December 1, 2007 as part of the Arthritis Society’s Joints in Motion team.

Embarking on her latest challenge of opening up the Urban Wellness Centre @ cityplace in February 2009, Kathryn continues to spread her passion and enthusiasm for a healthy lifestyle. The idea of having the ability to bring fitness and better health to people through her knowledge base and experience drives Kathryn to continue to help promote more balanced lifestyles  in turn helping to create a healthier community overall!

Olivia Hardy

Massage Therapist

Olivia Hardy graduated from the Professional Institute of Massage Therapy and Alternative Medicines’ 2200 hour Diploma prgram in 2004.  Since then she has taken seminars on various other modalities. They include:

hot stone massage
thai massaage
aromatherapy
reflexology
reiki
she continues to further her studies and knowledge of the human body.

Phyllis C. Reid-Jarvis

Phyllis C. Reid-Jarvis, Registered Dietitian, Certified Diabetes Educator, Professional Speaker and Life Coach.  Her first book, Solutions for Health: How to Do More of What Works has helped many people create health solutions for living their best lives possible. This tremendous success resulted in producing a second edition of Solutions for Health in 2010.

Her most recent work Ultimate Potentials Living- is positively transforming the lives of many.  This is a brilliantly designed 2.5 days inspirational course that uses powerful Life Coaching tools to help participants create desired results.

This course provides participants with the opportunity to experience why each of us was born to live our best life.

From busy corporate executives seeking balance and energy to small business owners, front-line workers and middle managers, and individuals, all can benefit from her personalized health solutions.

Phyllis has a Bachelor’s Degree in Foods & Nutrition from the University of Manitoba and a Diploma in Dietetics from the Health Sciences Centre.  She is currently enrolled in the Master’s of Public Health program through the University of Manitoba.

She is a member of the College of Dietitians of Manitoba, Dietitians of Canada, International Coaching Federation, Consulting Dietitians Network and the Manitoba Chamber of Commerce, to name a few.

Dr. Sasha Kamani

Board Certified Doctor of Chiropractic in Canada and United States

Dr. Sasha Kamani is a veteran Doctor of Chiropractic who treated professional athletes in California, motor vehicle accidents, work injuries and a wide array of family Chiropractic. He has served as a doctor and health mentor for hundreds of individuals and families in California. Dr. Kamani has also been a health strategist and coach for multiple companies in California’s famous Silicon Valley.

Dr. Kamani now serves his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, as a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic and owner of Osborne Chiropractic Office. Osborne Chiropractic, a local wellness and Chiropractic office, provides patients with strategic care and planning for personal health. Growing up in Winnipeg, Dr. Kamani was involved in a motor vehicle accident as a teenager and experienced the benefits of Chiropractic care first hand. This experience began the journey to study health and wellness and enter Chiropractic College.

Dr. Kamani attended Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, California, graduating in 2002. In 2008, the Mayor of San Francisco issued a Certificate of Honor and Proclamation to Dr. Kamani for his outstanding dedication to Chiropractic care in the San Francisco Bay Area and Canada. During his tenure in California, he was a member of the California Chiropractic Association and currently a member of the Manitoba Chiropractic Association. He was also an ergonomic consultant for work place injuries in California.

After ten years of practice, education and consultation in California, Dr. Kamani made the decision move back and devout himself to the people of Winnipeg. Dr. Kamani’s expertise has helped enhance the integrity of his patients’ physical health and has spread the knowledge of health as being more than just the absence of disease.
